Wochenzettel 17,50:
We are colourful!

From the Master lab to the Hannolab and back richer with lots of experience. In interdisciplinary groups, with local practice partners, we developed ideas for the mobility of the future. We were able to deepen the design-thinking process and sharpen our knowledge of group dynamics in practice. It is encouraging to see how we, as designers, can and should take a central role in shaping our future, already at the beginning of the process.

Encouraged to shape the future, each student then presented his master concept in front of the group in the Master laboratory. Compared to the so called ‘shoulder view’, the projects take tangible forms. This presentation sees itself as a green light to change from the elaboration of the concept to practical implementation.

So beautifully tangible process sequences with landmarks sound, at the same time we also develop an understanding that these structures originate from certain patterns of thought and culture that must be questioned. This is exhausting, but should not only be obligatory for designers.

What happens to our ideas and our society when we suddenly no longer think in structures that only have one beginning and end and therefore can only grow in one direction, like a tree? How do objects, or even better named things, look like when we grow in all directions, like a rhizome, which knows no beginning or end? That’s why each student is at a different point in his work. The projects are colourful, my fellow students and our time too.

Finally, one question remains: are we celebrating the end or the beginning of the year in two weeks?
