Master’s degree in German Studies, Ethnology, History and Politics at the Universities of Freiburg and Oxford.

Doctorate at the Johns Hopkins University, USA in Social and Cultural History, on Bauhaus.

Research assistant at TU Berlin, UdK (University of the Arts) Berlin and Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

Lectureships at TFH Berlin, BTU Cottbus and Kunsthochschule Zürich.

2002 Visiting professor for Design Science at the University of Essen.

From 2002 to 2003 deputy chair of Designerinnen Forum (woman designers forum).

Long-standing associate editor of the journal “Frauen / Kunst / Wissenschaft” from Jonas Verlag in Marburg.

From 2004, lecturer in the History of Art and Design at Loughborough University in England.

Since 2014, professor at Hochschule Hannover, Faculty III – Media, Information and Design.
