A short week and many long texts

The past week felt a bit different from the previous ones. No more introductory rounds, the teambuilding phase is now completed very successfully and we finally got to know every professor. Last organizational questions are clarified, a certain routine returns. Outside, temperatures are gradually falling and adjusting to the season (finally). For some, summer should be endless, but after this particularly dry and hot summer, many welcome the long-awaited cooling.

It also helps to prepare the seemingly endless texts for the seminar „Media Theory“ with Prof. Martin Scholz. Instead of thinking about being at the lake or the „Herrenhäuser Gärten“, you can focus more on the exciting contributions of Neil Postman and John Fiske.

There should also be a lot of concentration for the following discussion about the texts in the seminar, because apart from the definition of media and their technologies, there is much debate about their development, potentials and influences on society, culture, politics and the economy. We can see slowly but surely that the master design and media is not an easy walk- through. Because with the cold, the speed of the lessons and the workload increase.

So it is quite convenient that on Wednesday there is the day of German Reunion and the week is divided pleasantly. In addition, there will be no seminars on Thursday and Friday and we have two days extra to work on the Master Thesis. And these are barely enough at the moment, many still break heads and one or the other pencil when looking at the calendar. Because next week is „Schulterblick“ on the plan. A day on which the topic of the master‘s thesis and its progress are being put to the test or could even be turned over from the ground up. There is a lot of preparation, both in form of presentations, texts and images, as well as mental – after all, this day we want to prove our motivation and passion for our topic and its importance.

To all my fellow students: I wish you success and all the best for Wednesday, we will rock that!
